MAN! So this is what it looks like when you get a 92 mph fastball to the face.
“Fans who were attending the game this afternoon say when they heard the hit, because it was so loud, they thought the ball had hit his helmet”
Officials say Vogelsong was hit in the left eye. He was taken to Allegheny General Hospital where he was admitted and will spend the night. The team says they hope to know more about his injury on Tuesday.
“The eye itself, which includes the orbital bone,” said Pirates head trainer Todd Tomczyk.
Vogelsong’s wife, Nicole, tweeted that he will be OK!
I just wanted to say THANK YOU for the outpouring of love & prayers for Ryan. He is stable & will be ok. Pirates will update more tomorrow.
